  Gold that elusive of all metals, Gold the most sought after of all metals, Gold the most valuable of all metals, from the beginning of mans history to now gold has been used to make money or used in exchange for goods or services. Gold has been used for grave ornaments. Gold has been used to decorate ancient churches and modern churches. Gold has been used to make items for the rich and the powerful. Such as gold rings, gold earrings, gold necklaces, gold watches, gold teeth, gold tooth picks and gold wax removers for the ears. Gold ornaments have been found through out Europe and the British Isles, in china and the Far East. Gold has been found in huge amounts in both North and South America. The Spanish sought after and found gold in Mexico, Central America and South America. The price of gold cost the Inca and Aztecs there way of life as the Spanish conquistadors wanted the gold as well as the political power that went with it.

   Gold and emeralds are exquisite when used in jewelry such as rings, or ear rings and pendants. The ancient Egyptians used gold to decorate coffins and make ornaments like face masks for the dead pharaohs. Au is the Latin symbol for gold and is mentioned in the bible, the cup that Jesus drank from during the last supper is reputed to have been made of gold. During the middle ages alchemists sought ways to make gold from base metals.
Gold weighs one and a half times  that of lead and is very soft and malleable. Gold melts at 1,064 degrees centigrade.

   Gold was discovered at Sutters mill in 1848 and created the California gold rush of 1849 one of great importance to the United States. Many people left there homes in the eastern United States and Europe to migrate west to the gold fields of California in hopes of finding there share of gold. They hoped this would change there life’s for ever and it did. Although most did not become rich they changed the destiny of California the United States, the country of Mexico and the political landscape of America for ever. Prospectors looked for and found gold all over the western United States and in Alaska as well. Many mines were developed in Colorado, Montana, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Idaho, and Oregon

  Gold prospecting still goes on to day, many amateur and professional prospectors and miners look for gold in many places using metal detectors, gold pans and highly sophisticated equipment in there search for the elusive gold metal. Mel fisher and other treasure hunters have found lots of gold bars, gold rings, gold coins, gold candle sticks, gold jewelry and many more items made of gold off the Florida coast west of the  Florida keys near Key West and east Florida just south of cape Kennedy near Sebastian Florida. Kip Wagner found gold for the first time from the famous shipwrecks of 1715 which were caught up in a hurricane and sunk. Many gold bars gold coins and gold jewelry have been found both on the beach and in the ocean by amateurs and professionals alike.
